All the rest of the guys should be jealous….

This morning I had the company of Dawn, Jen and Andi for my 7 am run on the aqueduct. The sad thing is that, of the four of us, I was the one slowing us down. Andi, only 4 months removed from pregnancy was worried about being the slow one, but it was me. Actually, we cruised along at 8:20 – 8:30 a mile sans mile 3. During the 3rd mile I was having the same almost dizzy feeling that I had yesterday. By mile four it seemed to have gotten better though as the next two miles were once again sub 8:30.

I am not sure the cause of this dizzy time I work through but I have worked through this before. Last year I came to the conclusion that it was most likely dehydration and I took measures to make sure I drink enough before starting my run. Those measures are still in effect, but this weekend the condition could be aggravated by cold medicine!  I have been taking some comtrex and some nasal afrin in an attempt to relieve my ultra drippy nose. As I write this I figure if it dried up my drippy nose, it probably dried the rest of me up as well.

Anyway, at the end of the 5 miles all but Jen quit. She said something about going out and doing 7:30.  It was great to see Andi out running again. She and Dawn and I discussed the possibility of doing the Pacific Half marathon on March 24. It was also fun to hear all about the Shenanigans of the elfs who have been abiding at both Dawn’s and Andi’s houses checking up on the kids!

This morning I noted the lack of one of my symptoms. First thing each morning I have pain in my right hamstring and/or adductor if I lift my knee up to put on my socks, pants, etc. As the day goes by this typically goes away. This morning I noticed the complete lack of this pain!!!  Also, stopping at 5 miles I am left feeling really good today – no tightness issues as I go up and down from the stage leading worship at church!!

Tomorrow I am sure that Clay will have another killer workout prepared for me.  🙂

27 miles this week.

  1. Your complete lack of pain is great news! Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. The dizziness could be dehydration caused by your cold and the medication . Dizziness was my first sign of trouble in South Dakota.
