Not a long run, a long day….
I woke up at 4 to head over to Joe Walker for my workout with Karl. My glutes were feeling somewhat fatigued still from the Tuesday night form drills, so I was not expecting much. We opted for 800s with short (200 meter) recovery in lieu of mile repeats. My splits were 3:27, 3:28, 3:31, 3:26, 3:24, 3:22 and 3:28. I stopped at 7. Karl had already lapped me. He finished 8. We finished the workout with 4x100m like last week: 20.5, 20.5, 20.3 and 19.8.
After school I had the Hillview team run a 2 mile trial. They did the N8 loop and I did my best to time them. Lots of question marks so far. A few gems are starting to appear.
I left the team a few minutes early, with the other coaches, and headed over to Clay’s. Clay has been on vacation so I decided to do the same 5 x 1 minute ski erg workout from last week. It went VERY well. Last week I did: 251, 254, 257, 252 and 251 for 1265 total meters. Today: 257, 258, 257, 258 and 263 for 1293!
Afterwards, I headed straight back to school for back to school night followed by a cafeteria full of cross country team parents.
Tomorrow, I am taking it easy, no early morning, maybe a few with the kids, maybe not….
Good job on your 800’s. I’m interested in seeing how your possible gems turn out.
