What is the maximum length of a “recovery” run?

Just like last week, I met Chuck and Lance in the dark on the aqueduct for a weekend long  run. Just like last week, I hoped to be able 15 miles. Also just like last week, I was unable to do so. The right calf is tight and sore, but not as bad as last week. The left quad is just barely impacted, MUCH less than last week. Lance ran ahead of us, while Chuck and I enjoyed a nice easy 10. I chose not to push any farther, which was a little sad, as Lauren had arrived to run with us. She joined Chuck just as I stopped. Based on my pace, especially the last few miles, I would have to classify this as a recovery run. It was a little to slow for a long or easy run.
