Just another Hillview victory!

The league has one of those perpetual plaques. The kind where each year the winning school’s name gets added to the list. The plaque has Hillview written all over it. I believe there are 12 slots and this we grabbed the last one. Joe Walker won about 5 years ago, but other than that the plaque just says Hillview!

The plaque is for the overall school winner, which is the total score from the four divisions. The four divisions include 7th grade and 8th grade, boys and girls. Hillview scored a total of 359 points. Joe Walker was 2nd with 228. The 7th grade boys led the way: 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the mile, 1st, 2nd and 4th in the 800, 1st in the 4 x 400 setting a new school record, two boys placing in all the sprints…. I am working from memory here, but I believe they had 135 points. 2nd place was 45. The 8th grade girls were led by a terrific trio of athletes. Christine, my top distance girl placed 2nd in the 800 and 1600, while winning the long jump and high jump. She scored 36 herself! Another girl won the 100 and 200, while a 3rd was 2nd in the 100, 200 while winning the 400! The team scored 107 points. 2nd was 67.

The 7th grade girls scored 60 plus points, but Del Sur won their division with 82. We might have been able to make it closer but our top sprinter / long jumper sprained her ankle playing softball over the weekend.

The 8th grade boys had some tough competition  Our 4 x 400 team, set a new school record today, but placed 3rd in the race. Piute surprised everyone winning 1st place with 69 points! Joe Walker was 2nd with 66, Cole 3rd with 65 and Hillview was 4th with 57. It turned out to be incredibly close. We did well in the distance races but scored just 1 in the sprints.

Once the full results are available they will be posted here……
