For the last few years I have done a really good job at avoiding comman colds and the flu. Every now and then I get a sinus infection, but they are typically not much worse than my standard allergy problems. Wednesday, I though, “uh oh, this is it.” While teaching I noticed myself get a little dizzy while turning to write on the chalk board. After school I felt a little queasy and gassy when I went to get changed for the Hillview running club. I decided it might be better to not run.
So, I got out a pair of dice and sent the kids out on infinite figure eights….. wait, that would be figure infinities…. where they met me in the middle. They would roll the dice and the dice would tell them what exercises they had to do. It is kind of funny because one die gives a quantity: 1, 2, and 3 equal 10, 20 and 30, while 4, 5 and 6 equal 4, 5, and 6. So someone could get stuck with 30 burpees, or 20 pushups. Oscar, who was sore from doing the Clayve the previous evening, got 20 pushups 2 or 3 times in a row. Dora got a couple of big sets of burpees, as I recall. I got to sit on the sidewalk and interpret the roll of the dice for them. It was a fun afternoon.
When I got home, my wife felt my forehead and she said I felt warm. …. I sat and watched tv for the evening.
Thursday, I felt pretty good. I had already cancelled club, though so I did not get in a run. Instead I went to the district office to sit in on a presentation by Muk Muk. See my next post…..
