Today we did our first Leap Frog run of the 2013-2014 School Year. This run, more than perhaps any other, gets the kids running fast over a sustained distance. We do a warmup of a little over a mile down into the Rancho Vista Golf Course Area. We regroup and then we run down tournament drive toward 30th west. We run up and down every one of 9 cul de sacs along the way – unless, that is you fall to the back of the group, in which case you “leap frog” the cul de sac. So, your reward for being slow is getting to skip some of the cul de sacs. Very few of the kids look at it this way. They push through it trying not to fall to the back… The two leap from segments are more than a mile long. My half mile splits within the segmens were 3:15 and 3:27 headed eastward and 3:19 and 3:36 heading westward.
The knee was a little achy, but it did not hold me back too much….
