Sunday’s run had quite a bit more knee pain than usual. I blamed it on all the discomfort and weirdness of the eye recovery. Yesterday I met the kids at Marie Kerr and we did some relay races. 6 x 200 meters….. well that is 6 reps for each of the three team members, so maybe I should have called it 18 x 200. Then with our 3 person teams we did a 9 x 400 relay. There was some knee discomfort as I recall, but it was not that bad.
Today, I warmed up with the HDR runners. The first lap felt fine but half way through the second lap the knee started to hurt. Sometimes it does this but within a lap I get past it. I finished laps 2, 3, and 4 and it persisted. I cancelled the rest of the workout. The few who were there did 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1.
I headed over to the Clayve. Clay suspected that it could have been the fact that I spent the day doing yard work that had my knee already aggrevated today. I dug up a 100 square feet of lawn and disposed of it. The knee behaved itself well during the Clayve workout (not that I attempted anything that would have stressed it.)
Knee pain is a real bummer! It takes all the fun out of running. Good luck.
