Clay loaned me Alberto Salazar’s book, “14 Minutes.” In 2007 Alberto’s heart stopped for 14 minutes. It is almost unheard of that a person survives 14 minutes without a beating heart and returns to normal health. Alberto was without a heartbeat for a longer time period than when he set the American 5k record of 13:11.93. Wow. He uses this famous cardiac event to tell his life story. A story of tremendous success that quickly disappeared. A story of how his faith led to his return to competition and then to his career in coaching. Once again. It is an excellent book.
Yes . It an incredible inspirational story! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. His survival was dependent a lot of independent factors all being in place and happening at the same time and location. All the stars were in alignment that day!
