I always enjoy the few days after a marathon. I can be as lazy as I want and everyone gives me permission to do so….
Here are some pics the race people have posted online:
But still, I have not been a complete coach potato.
Sunday afternoon, after driving home and resting a few hours. I got out the door and walked a mile. It felt good to stretch things out. The next day, Memorial Monday morning I did the same. Later in the afternoon Cheryl and I went to the mall for one of our mall walks. We only go through 1 lap (=2 miles) but I figured 3 miles of walking the day after a marathon was not too bad!
Yesterday, I coached my HV club runners through a workout and later the HDR Tuesday night workout. It was exciting to see a couple of new runners there…
After the suffering of those last few miles on Sunday, I opted to downgrade my Hampshire Hoppit trail marathon to the Half…..
I figure that I don’t want to be this tired and exhausted in the middle of my big vacation coming up. Also, the race, I discovered, does not start till 10 a.m. So, If I do a trail race at 10, with no big time goal in mind, I will likely not be done until 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. and not back to the hotel till 3:30 or 4:00. Instead I can do a half and be back to the hotel by 1, and out and about for the afternoon enjoying the English countryside…
