I have begun 2018 camping. We drove down to Ventura after church on Sunday – New Year’s eve and checked in at the RV resort. (Our little trailer looks SOOO tiny here.) The place was packed. Being New Year’s eve they had a little party area set up, with music and Karaoke into the night…. bad Karaoke. Still, it was fun to be out with some friends doing something to recognize that it was a special night. Monday morning, New Year’s Day, at least half of the campers left. Today, the 2nd, even more.

Yesterday Cheryl and I rode the tandem to Ventura harbor, with Pastor Darrell. 13 or 14 miles at his pace so a very easy ride. I did also get in a full set of PPLDs! Today we rode even less… just to the pier and into Ventura for lunch.

This morning I got my first run in of the year. I headed north up the coast bike path and back for 10 miles. After 2 miles warm up, I started some timed intervals 1,2,3,4,5,5,4,3,2,1 These are minutes and I allowed myself an equal amount of minutes after each rep.

Looking at my stats, the speed of the intervals was not that impressive… 7:10 – 7:20…

Goals for 2018:

  • I am going to try again on my 10,000 PPLD goal from last year. That is 10000 push ups, planks, lunges, and dips. The planks don’t really have reps so I count a minute as 10 reps. The pattern to success is 50 a day, every 2 out of 3 days.
  • I plan to race Boston at a sub 165 weight.
  • 1500 miles running
  • 2000 equivalents – so that could be 1500 running and 1000 Elliptigo
  • At least one age graded PR!

  1. Good Luck for 2018! You should skip the pushups and just do Plank Ups instead of holding the plank. It works the trunk better. Both work the chest but Plankups work the core better than pushups.
